Praying Scripture For MALAWI.

The more time we spend here and the more we get to know the Malawian people, the deeper our love for them grows. I’m continuing to pray that God deepens our understanding of and love for this nation. Obviously, our primary prayer for them is that their lives will be changed by the power of the Gospel. We desire to see people repent of their sins and turn to Jesus in full surrender. We also pray specifically for those in Malawi who already believe. As the new school year is beginning I’m committing to pray for Malawi Children’s Missions administration and teachers, most of who are followers of Christ. I’m also praying for our church family, whom we get the pleasure of growing in Christ with.

I’ve been taught the importance of praying scripture. When praying scripture, you have no doubt that you are praying the will of God because you are praying the words of God. I’m also a teacher and I love acrostics so I combined praying scripture and an acrostic of “Malawi” to form a prayer guide. Join me in praying for the body of Christ in Malawi.

M – Pray believers mature – “For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.” (Hebrews 5:13-14)

A – Pray believers will have the attitude of Christ– “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:3-11)

L – Pray believers will love – “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

A – Pray believers will accept the word of God– “For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

W – Pray believers will desire and ask for wisdom – “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)

I – Pray believers will pursue integrity – “The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.” (Proverbs 11:3)
